“Fuck ‘em” – Sons of Anarchy Crew on Emmy Snub

The Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour has been in full swing all week and yesterday the cast and crew from TV’s best show Sons of Anarchy took centre stage at The Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom.

Showrunner Kurt Sutter, Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam and Katey Sagal were all in attendance along with the likes of Theo Rossi and Maggie Siff.

The number one question on everyone’s lips…? How do the cast feel about the recent controversial Emmy snub…?

The great Ron Perlman, who plays Clay on the show, was very succinct in summing up his feelings: “Fuck ‘em” was all the Hellboy star had to say.

Brit actor Charlie Hunnam, who plays Jax, seemed to share Perlman’s sentiments but offered a slightly more expansive explanation:

"I was really happy. I think its [The Emmys] all a crock of shit and it's corrupting… I was happy we weren't on the receiving end of a force that can change the dynamic [of a show]. All of that crap is secondary and unimportant, but does have the potential to ruin a good thing. So as you [Perlman] said: fuck 'em."

Sutter was slightly more diplomatic, obviously still trying to tread carefully after his uncensored thoughts on his Sutter Ink blog just after the nominations were announced saw him receiving unwanted column inches taking his comments way out of context. After mentioning how grateful he was that the show and Katey Sagal were nominated for TCA Awards, Sutter talked about what has always seemed odd to him about the Emmys and what he believes is fundamentally wrong with the system:

"Every year when the Emmys are announced, half the stories are about the nominations, and the other half are about the absurdity of the nominations and the snubs. It suggests to me that the system is somewhat flawed."

Whilst Tommy Flanagan, who plays Chibs on the show, purely felt like giving the Emmys a one-fingered gesture, I’ll leave you to work out which finger that would involve…
